The Chau Chak Wing Museum’s most striking feature is the large, floating, insitu concrete ‘Box’ perched atop its glass and acid washed precast podium.
From the tinted, acid washed precast elements that feature in the lower half of the building, to the in-situ ceilings, through to the cantilevered box itself, concrete features both prominently, and yet is unobtrusively elegant. This timeless construction project will endure for generations to come, just as the University intended.
The degree of uniformity in the colour and finish of the elegant precast panels is exemplary and is testament to the dedication of the long term staff members at the Brisbane factory.
