About The Project

Taronga Zoo have made a conservation commitment to the Asian Elephant. Taronga’s successful breeding program, driven by our experts and partner zoos, is a vital part of the international effort for this endangered species.

The main feature of this unique building is the striking pattern cast into the surface of the panels. This was achieved by creating custom form liners tailored to the project.

Other features to increase the aesthetics of the building include introducing a slope to the walls and placing the joints at angles. The panels are typically 300mm thick and taper to 400mm at the base using in a high quality concrete mix to ensure tey can withstand the rigours from the building’s inhabitants well into the future.
